[ It's been a few months, but Jon has slowly adapted to his dad not picking him after school. It's not uncomfortable, just something he's gotten used to. Jon doesn't linger on the bad, he tends to pick himself up quickly. When he spots Jason, he waves, smiling brightly. ]

Hi! Where are we going? Is it somewhere fun?

[ Optimism was such a rare thing in his life, namely since he fired Roy. He can't help but return something close to the old Robin smile to Jon in return.]

Hey, kid, have a good day at school? And if you want, I was just going to take you to lunch, but we can go to the arcade if you want.

Yeah, we learned about prime numbers.

[ He eyes Jason thoughtfully. ]

I'm not in trouble right? I mean, . . . . it was Damian's fault?

[ It usually is. ]

Sometime's it easy to forget how young you are.

[ He laughed then when he was asked if he was in trouble.]

First off, no, your not in trouble. Second, if you happened to be, I would know it was Damian's fault. Jeeze, I just wanted to talk to you without the other's hovering around. See how you really feel about everything.

[ He explained, as he started to walk for the waiting car, he hadn't drove this time, but opted for a taxi since he hasn't slept yet.]

[ Jon shoulders his backpack as he trots after Jason. ]

[ Holding open the cabs door, he waits for Jon to get in first.]

About me stepping in to help you and Damian out like Grayson did. I should say before we we get any further I have no intention of going back home. I have nothing left back there. So, you won't be left alone again.

[ Jon obediently slips inside, peering at Jason. ]

That can't be true . . . can it?

[ Slipping in after Jon he gave the driver the address before looking to the boy.]

It's true, I made up my mind the day I arrived. I have nothing back there waiting for me. Nothing worth going back for anyway.

[ Jon doesn't know if that's true or not. Bats tend to have difficult heartbeats to read and it's not his place to question it. ]

You could go somewhere else.

[ Jason wasn't even trying to lie, he'd made his mind up to stay months ago.]

No where else I want to go, my point is, I'm staying so, if you want I'd like to help you and little D out if I can. I was hung over the other day and that wasn't really the time to talk about improtant things like that. So I'd like to hear what you'd like to happen.

[ Jon hunches his shoulders, looking away and feeling a little rebellious. ]

Everyone said that.

People lie.

[ Jason shrugs, trying to think of a way to explain it without just giving up his identity.]

I lie to, just not about this. I'm bored here but, I'll take that over dealing with B's bullshit and everything else my life was back there.

[ He unconsciously winces. Jon doesn't like to think the adults he knew lied to him. It's an uncomfortable scenario, too close to Manchester Black. ]

What if you remember something new?

[ Jason often choose the hard truth over the easier ones. He ran a hand through his hair then looking from Jon to the passing streets.]

Jon, I doubt anything back home will call me back. I'm the Red Hood. I've got nothing left back there.

[ Now he worries.]

[ That sounds . . . super depressing. ]

Are you really okay with that?

[ Jason shrugged a little.]

It is what it is.

[ Jon isn't sure. Mostly because if it is that way, it can be changed. But it's not his place so he just nods. ]

I'm okay with you staying if you want to.

[hititwithacrowbar]

[ It could, but he didn't see any reason to want to go back to his old life, outside of boredom.]

I'm glad to hear it, I wish I had known sooner you kids were alone. I was alone at your age, I know what that does, so I'd rather not make you live the same way. But, I should warn you, I work nights, at my actual job not just the other stuff.

[ He wouldn't say vigilante stuff with a cab driver so close. At least the arcade was close.]

I'm usually asleep at this time, but it means you wont come home to an empty house, depending on how you and Damian feel, I may ask Wally or Tim to stay in with you guys at night, but in the end its what you want. It's your house.

[ Jon absorbs this quietly. ]

It's okay if you're not always around. It's not like my dad and mom were always there, though they tried their best.

[ He gets it. Clark had explained it long ago that they had other lives, to do important things. Even jobs are important. ]

Good, as long as you know. I hate to not be able to say I can be more than that, but I wont lie about it either. That said, call me anytime Jon. I mean that, even if I'm at work. Even if its for nothing at all. Were basically going to be family now, which means you have a whole flock of bats to help you out. So, you'll never really be alone.

[ Jon blinks. ]

Family? Me?

Family doesn't always mean blood, Jon, look at me, Damian and Tim. That's not even our Tim, none of us share blood besides that we spilled on each other, but we're family. And you are to, your one of us, probably since you first started running with Little D, and that means you never alone again. Understood?

[supersweet]

[ Jon swallows. He knows his father sees Bruce and Diana as family, but they've never discussed it like that before. Jon's blood has been important. It separates him from the rest. He's never dealt with it in such terms before. ]

Are you sure?

[hititwithacrowbar]

[ As the cab stops, Jason leans up and pays the man, slipping out and holding a hand down to help Jon even if the super kid didn't need help.]
