[ Two invites were left taped to the house door, for Jon and Damian to attend the floor six party.]

Text - a few days after the breakfast

you busy later today, Jon?

[supersweet]

No. Do you need something?

[hititwithacrowbar]

Good. I want to take you out to lunch, so we can talk about something. I'd rather ask your thoughts than just make a choice. It's nothing bad. I'll pick you up after school, I get off around the same time today.

[supersweet]

Sure. I'll wait for you.

[hititwithacrowbar]

I may actually be early, either way I'll see you.


[ And true to his word, he was on time. ]

[supersweet]

[ It's been a few months, but Jon has slowly adapted to his dad not picking him after school. It's not uncomfortable, just something he's gotten used to. Jon doesn't linger on the bad, he tends to pick himself up quickly. When he spots Jason, he waves, smiling brightly. ]

Hi! Where are we going? Is it somewhere fun?

[hititwithacrowbar]

[ Optimism was such a rare thing in his life, namely since he fired Roy. He can't help but return something close to the old Robin smile to Jon in return.]

Hey, kid, have a good day at school? And if you want, I was just going to take you to lunch, but we can go to the arcade if you want.

[supersweet]

Yeah, we learned about prime numbers.

[ He eyes Jason thoughtfully. ]

I'm not in trouble right? I mean, . . . . it was Damian's fault?

[ It usually is. ]

[hititwithacrowbar]

Sometime's it easy to forget how young you are.

[ He laughed then when he was asked if he was in trouble.]

First off, no, your not in trouble. Second, if you happened to be, I would know it was Damian's fault. Jeeze, I just wanted to talk to you without the other's hovering around. See how you really feel about everything.

[ He explained, as he started to walk for the waiting car, he hadn't drove this time, but opted for a taxi since he hasn't slept yet.]

Text; After breakfast when home alone.

[After his brothers are gone and it's just them in the house again. Damin picks up his device, because he remembers what Jon said about personal space and might be trying not to barge into the boy’s room as much anymore.]

Are you awake?

[supersweet]

[ After a few minutes. ]

You can knock on the door, y'know.

[supersweet]

[ Jon shoulders his backpack as he trots after Jason. ]

Feel about what?

[hititwithacrowbar]

[ Holding open the cabs door, he waits for Jon to get in first.]

About me stepping in to help you and Damian out like Grayson did. I should say before we we get any further I have no intention of going back home. I have nothing left back there. So, you won't be left alone again.

I felt asking this way would eliminate complaints for more personal space.

[But instead you find new ones. So picky Jon.]

There's a difference between breaking in and knocking.

[ Jon obediently slips inside, peering at Jason. ]

That can't be true . . . can it?

I know.
Had I broken in, I'd of seen you were awake and this conversation would have progressed much faster.

[Lesson learned.]

I'm not sure that logic works.

[ Slipping in after Jon he gave the driver the address before looking to the boy.]

It's true, I made up my mind the day I arrived. I have nothing back there waiting for me. Nothing worth going back for anyway.

[ Jon doesn't know if that's true or not. Bats tend to have difficult heartbeats to read and it's not his place to question it. ]

You could go somewhere else.

[ Jason wasn't even trying to lie, he'd made his mind up to stay months ago.]

No where else I want to go, my point is, I'm staying so, if you want I'd like to help you and little D out if I can. I was hung over the other day and that wasn't really the time to talk about improtant things like that. So I'd like to hear what you'd like to happen.

[ Jon hunches his shoulders, looking away and feeling a little rebellious. ]

Everyone said that.

Point is you’re awake and we should talk.

Are you upset about Todd and Drake? You were very quiet at breakfast.

It's not their fault.

I'm just tired of having this conversation over and over again.
