[Damian kept silent, letting the younger boy cry. This was all new, he'd never seen Jon so distraught before and is uncertain how to handle it or if he'd been handling it right this whole time. He just went at it like he normally did. See a problem and tackle it head-on.
Was it right? Probably not. Was it selfish? Most definitely but Jon was hurting and Damian wanted it to stop. 'You ripped into this, now it's time to clean up the mess.'
He raises a handoff Jon's shoulder and hesitates for a moment, before resisting his hand on the back of Jon's head and slowly pulls him closer into a hug.]
[ Jon just continues to sob, large gulping gasps mixed in with streaming tears, not caring how he looks right now. Wrapping his arms around Damian, Jon just lets it bleed out until there's nothing left to cry and his sobs become muted, staccato hiccups and sounds. ]
[Damian lets Jon get it out, brushing his hand over the boys back in a way Grayson had done for him and keeps his other hand resting on Jon's hair. He even stays quiet as Jon pulls him in tighter. 'It's going to be okay. I won't leave you alone again.' He silently promises.
He hears the sobs start to settle down, but he remains quiet. For once he lets Jon control the moment.]
[ It slowly tapers out and Jon carefully extricates himself from Damian's grasp, sitting back and wiping away his sniffles and tears with his sleeve. ]
Stop that. Pessimism is not your thing. [It was his thing. Stop stepping all over his turf, Jon!] It's a very good sign. You controlled it even though you were distressed and that's progress.
[He stands up and offers a hand to Jon to help him to his feet.]

[He looks at the scorch mark on the wall then the hole in the floor.]
You did good, I prepared for much worse.

That's not exactly a good sign.

Thanks. I guess I really needed that.
